Living in Ajax since 1969, Collier is a veteran politician who has represented the council since 2003. On the education front, has a background in accounting and is a Chartered Director. In the Ontario Municipal Elections 2022, he ran for the post of Mayor of Ajax as an incumbent and won by a margin of 8,210 votes.
